Description

RODE created a unique food service space for our confidential tech client that celebrates the colorful countercultures of Cambridge, taking cues from the 1960s folk music scene and infusing it with an unconventional bohemian style. The end result is a highly functional and inclusive escape that seamlessly accommodates a large number of daily users.

*RODE served as Hospitality Designer, working in partnership with Executive Architect - Perkins & Will.

Creating visual hierarchy with creativity and collaboration.

In order to create visual hierarchy in the otherwise open floorplate, RODE developed the concept for two ceiling installations; one inspired by a bohemian yurt structure that caps the north east corner, the other a canopy of beads. The piece was ultimately executed by artist Niho Kozuro, named 'Inspiration Garden', and is meant to represent the many individualistic free thinkers in the Cambridge area.

Pulling from influences in line with the concept, a multi-thematic space evolved. The food servery takes on a venue-inspired vibe, while the lounge is capped with an installation reminiscent of a ‘bohemian yurt’.
In another zone, a beaded canopy designed by artist Niho Kozuru and inspired by the unique individuality of Cambridge residents brings vibrant color to the dining space.
The coffee bar dons a ‘flower crown’ of preserved plants that extends into the ‘eclectic Victorian’ dining area.
