Description

RODE created a multifaceted dining experience with three separate, but connected concepts: the three destinations each embrace the character of Cambridge during a distinct era in the city’s past. A lobby with central host stand unites the different space; a separate entrance allows early-morning access to the cafe.

We created a space that seamlessly supported a complex program.

With operational efficiency top of mind, the space planning and placemaking of each concept were of utmost importance. All three concepts are adjacent to a shared kitchen and support space, as well as a shared 'lobby' entry.

On the ground level, Café Beatrice nods to the elegance of 17th-century imperial England. The fine dining restaurant Geppetto exudes the scholarly sophistication of emergent Cambridge.
The Lexington, a second floor cocktail lounge and deck, embraces the puritan simplicity of colonial Newtowne. Combined, the three spaces activate the area from early morning until the end of the night.
Within these three moments, human-scale pauses work to create a multifaceted dining experience that captures Chef Will Gilson's vision of a “hotel without hotel rooms”.
