Description
Freight Farms is a hydroponic agricultural farming company who is revolutionizing sustainable farming practices through the use of shipping containers. The company was looking to move and expand their headquarters to 20 Old Colony Avenue and brought RODE on to design their new space.
The renovation breathed new life into the existing commercial space while successfully weaving the company's mission throughout the office. The new headquarters includes a new lobby with private meeting room that leads into the reception area. Inside, a combination of private and shared office space, small and medium meeting rooms, conference space, and lounge areas allows flexibility in working environments.
The program surrounds a shared open kitchen and tiered seating atrium that serves as the heartbeat of the office and a place for company-wide meetings and group trainings. Beyond the atrium, an R&D laboratory allows the team to develop and test equipment on-site.
The interior design was inspired by the many different natural environments that Freight Farmers live in around the world. RODE utilized this theme to create a feeling of diversity and uniqueness as the occupants move through and inhabit the variety of program elements, while still creating a cohesive design centered around collaboration.
